Wildcats Smell Blood In SEC East

6 weeks ago, the Kentucky Wildcats looked like a team that would be lucky to make the NIT this season. But now, with 2 weeks left in the regular season, they are in position to win the SEC East's regular season title. All they have to do is beat the #1 team in the nation in Knoxville, and THEN win their final two games. No easy task, but it's hard not to be optimistic, considering the way they have performed in conference games (with the exception of the game at Vanderbilt). A win at Tennessee may be asking for too much, however, considering the Vols are coming of an upset loss to Vandy earlier this week. Tennessee will undoubtedly come out of the gates firing on all cylinders, and UK probably doesn't have the weapons to keep up on the road. Even if they do lose on Saturday, they must maintain focus during the last two games against South Carolina and Florida (at Rupp), in order to get an at-large NCAA tourney bid. They can afford to lose to Tennessee, sure, but they desperately need those last two games and a win or two in the SEC tourney to make up for their non-conference record.
GO CATS!
