Nemesis

The fight of the century has come and gone, and in my opinion, it did not disappoint. Chuck Liddell looked like his old self in defeating Wanderlei Silva in a match that MMA fans have been salivating over for years. While the first round was mostly a "feeling out" period, both fighters were able to get some good shots in. The second and third rounds featured a number of Liddell flurries, but he was unable to land a knockout blow. I would've preferred if Lidell had tried harder to finish Silva late in the third, but he was content to coast to the decision win. It's hard to judge him too harshly for that, however, knowing that his primary goal is regaining his light heavyweight title, and there was no need to risk getting knocked out himself by the heavy handed Silva late in the fight. A thoroughly entertaining slugfest.

In the "main event" of the UFC 79:Nemesis event, Matt Hughes was thoroughly dominated by George St. Pierre. GSP made Hughes (the most dominant Welter weight in UFC history) look like a virtual amatuer for about 8 minutes before forcing him to tap in the second round.
